Los Gatos United Methodist Church completed Phase I of a refurbishment to the major campus buildings in 2002. The first project including re-roofing, and repainting of the exterior of all of the buildings. The new color plan was designed to highlight the best feature of the site which was it’s park-like setting with a color palette which drew from the setting itself.
The chancel was redesigned to provide a more open platform that can be used for a variety of church service configurations and multi-media capability while retaining the elements of the original design that were important to the congregation. A new design for the skylight above the chancel eliminated the glare and hot spots of the original.
The project was completed with improved lighting, acoustics, ADA access to the platform and a reconfiguration of seating at the entry. A new color palette for carpet and upholstery was created to highlight the original redwood pews.
