O'SHEA RESIDENCE

The original 1970’s split level was dated with a layout that did not correspond with the way the O’Shea family wanted to live. There was little room to expand, since the corner house was located against one setback. The solution was a re-design of the existing interior with a limited addition of only 362 square feet of living space.

More drama was created to the entrance of the house by the addition of a craftsman detailed covered porch and deck. The upper floor was opened into one space to become the new living/entertainment room, and new trusses were added for roof support on either side of a welcoming fireplace. The wood ceiling was sandblasted back to it’s original grain, and given a natural finish. The enlarged kitchen was reconfigured with a ridge skylight and connected to an larger family room and study.
